It seems like only yesterday we were here at the stunning West Mill in Derby even though it was way back in chilly February! Karen & David chose The West Mill we can only assume because of its wow factor!. Having always wanted to shoot here it didn’t disappoint.
Set on the banks of the river Derwent it was originally built as a cotton spinning mill, the mill played an important part in history and the industrial revolution. The building has been restored with many features such as the vaulted ceilings, cast iron columns and exposed brick walls still remaining to retain most of its architecture of the 1800’s.
I noticed some other little features during my time their such as paw prints imprinted on a tile on the cobbled flooring, a retro cigarette machine and an old clock in system where workers clocked in and out of work. It was strange to imagine workers in there over a hundred years ago never knowing one day people would be choosing to get married in it!
Im glad David and Karen did though as it was a wonderful day. It was super chilly so they opted to spend as much time indoors as possible which isn’t a problem with this venue as there is just so many beautiful locations within the building, you surely don’t need to worry about rain on your wedding day here!
Their day was filled with love and laughter and we were so pleased to be there capturing all their special moments. Here are some snippets of their day….
